Phillips After 5 combines a lively mix of people, jazz, gallery talks, superb modern art, and a cash bar for a memorable evening. For the October event, the collection is featuring:
  • What’s the Pointe? Inspired by Neo-Impressionism and the Dream of Realities, connect the dots
  • See The Washington Ballet’s Studio Company preview excerpts from their 2014–2015 season,Taking Flight, as Artistic Director Septime Webre offers tips on contemporary and classical ballet
  • Try your hand at pointillism with a digital art activity

On Friday, October 3rd, Jackson 20 and Monaco Alexandria, a Kimpton Hotel will host “Soil to Soul,” a block party fundraiser benefitting the Old Town Farmers’ Market SNAP/EBT Double Dollar Program. The evening of dining and drinks will feature neighboring restaurants such as Society Fair, BRABO by Robert Wiedmaier, Vermillion, The Grille at Morrison House and Tempo Restaurant. Each restaurant will craft a selection of seasonal bites, utilizing the best produce from Old Town Farmers’ Market vendors. 

Capitol City Brewing Company will host its Fifteenth Annual Mid-Atlantic Oktoberfest at The Village at Shirlington in Arlington on Saturday, October 4 from 12:00 noon – 7:00 p.m. (all beer taps close at 6:00 p.m.) with ticket sales starting at 11:00 a.m.

Del Campo is launching a brand new brunch this weekend. The $45 fixed price menu is inclusive of bottomless items from the a la carte menu (think bacon, egg and cheese empanadas and chorizo and egg hash) as well as bottomless select brunch cocktails. To kick off the new menu (which will be offered alongside the current a la carte offerings), the restaurant is hosting a bloody Mary Throwdown this Sunday, October 5. Some of the areas top bartenders will go head to head during Del Campo's brunch to see who can make the best bloody. The $45 brunch will include samples of all the Bloody Marys. 

October Industry Takeover Night: Industry Takeover Night returns to Graffiato on Monday, October 6. This month’s lineup will include Aaron Deal of Roanoke's The River and Rail, Tim Lipman of Coolinary Cafe in Palm Beach, and rising local star Tim Ma of Maple Ave. and Water & Wall. Industry Takeover Nights are open to the public. From 10pm to 1am, guest chefs serve complimentary late night snacks at the first floor pizza bar, and the bar offers drink specials, including some libations from guest mixologists. A $10 cash-only cover charge is requested at the door, and 50% is donated to a different charity benefactor each month. This month the Fit to Fight by MIC will be the beneficiary.
