Recipe: Warm Black Mission and Kadota Figs with Goat Cheese

At our last Lamb and Fig Feast, I made a variety of dishes including a  Warm Black Mission and Kadota Figs with Goat Cheese. Kadota figs have a creamy amber skin with a light flavor similar to a Sauvignon Blanc.  The Black Mission are probably the figs you are most familiar with.  They have a purple and black skin with deep earthy flavor like a Cabernet.  Special thank you to the California Fig Association for contributing the delicious fruit.




Warm Black Mission and Kadota Figs with Goat Cheese

12 small Black Mission figs, halved lengthwise 
12 Kadota figs, halved lengthwise
3/4 cup crumbled goat cheese
1 1/2 tablespoons fig balsamic vinegar 

Preheat the oven to 350°. Arrange the figs on a baking sheet, cut sides up. Spoon a little goat cheese on each fig half and lightly brush the figs with the vinegar. Bake for about 8 minutes, or until the figs are warmed through. Transfer the figs to a platter and serve immediately.
